DSISD to Host Dyslexia Parent Information Night
September 24, 2019
Dyslexia specialists and the DSISD Special Services Department are hosting the annual DSISD Dyslexia Parent Information Night. It will be held at DSHS's Lecture Hall on October 10 from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. The evening will consist of introductions to the team, a showing of the film The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia, and a brief panel discussion.
Each of the DSISD campuses has a dyslexia specialist who is available for student support, parent consultation and evaluation assistance. These specialists work with students who have been identified as possibly having dyslexia. They lead the assessment and recommendation process for the students and ensure that each student is receiving the most effective intervention for their specific needs.
The month of October is recognized internationally as Dyslexia Awareness Month.
