Board News: Interim Asst. Supt. and Superintendent Search Firm
August 2, 2019 The Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees met in a special meeting on August 2 and unanimously (6-0) approved two action items.
· The Board approved the addition of Joe Burns as the interim Assistant Superintendent of Learning and Innovation. Prior to retiring in June, Mr. Burns was the principal of Dripping Springs High School from 2013-19 after serving as Curriculum Coordinator in the district’s Learning and Innovation Department for two years. He steps in to fill the vacancy created when Dr. Nicole Poenitzsch left DSISD to become the superintendent of Bellville ISD. Mr. Burns’ start date and schedule will be determined next week. The hiring process for a permanent assistant superintendent will occur after a new superintendent is hired.
· The Board also approved the hiring of TASB Executive Search Services to conduct DSISD’s superintendent search. TASB also will assist the district in identifying an interim superintendent. A special meeting is scheduled for August 15 at 11 a.m., at which time the Board will interview candidates for the interim superintendent. The remainder of the timeline will be announced once it has been developed.
