Schematic Designs for New WSE Presented
July 24, 2019
At a public meeting July 23, two potential schematic designs for the new Walnut Springs Elementary to be constructed at the site of Dripping Springs Middle School were presented in a community meeting; audience members had the opportunity to ask questions and public input was collected.
Corgan Architects used community, staff and parent input that was gathered in May to develop some basic schematic drawings of the school's potential location on the site and general layout. These designs are not yet detailed, and modifications will be ongoing in the coming months as the design process continues and decisions on aspects of the design are decided.
The two designs can be viewed by clicking on the first bullet below. In addition, the presentation is available (designs included), as well as the video link for the presentation that includes the summary from Architect Douglas Koehne. A second video link is provided that is lengthier but includes the entire meeting.

Feedback will be collected via the Google form through August 1, 2019. In addition to the community meeting, the architect also has met with the leadership teams from Walnut Springs Elementary and Dripping Springs Middle School and teacher groups from those schools. Architects will review and apply that feedback as they work on further developing the two designs. Then the district will provide direction on which design will be used to develop construction documents. The project will be bid and a contractor will be selected. Construction is expected to start in March 2020. The school is scheduled to open for the 2021-22 school year.
