Eight DSHS HOSA Students Advance to State

Dripping Springs High School advanced eight students to the Texas HOSA Leadership Conference (state competition) after placing in the top three or top 10 percent of their respective events at the Texas Area 1 Conference.
Those advancing to state are Cassie Argento-Bird (Veterinary Science), Makenna Blakesley (Medical Spelling), Trevor Burk (Health Care Issues Exam), Natalie Chavez (Prepared Speaking), Connor Johnson (Health Informatics), Tirth Patel (Health Care Issues Exam), Mia Perez (Extemporaneous Writing) and Ella Smith (Physical Therapy). Argento-Bird, Chavez and Perez won their events. In all, 20 DSHS students placed in the top five in their events.
HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.
The state competition will be held virtually with a date yet to be determined.
