Dripping Springs ISD became a District of Innovation in June of 2016. DSISD was an early adopter of this designation, which originated in the 84th Legislative Session. The designation must be renewed every five years and is up for renewal in 2026.

The District of Innovation Committee will work with the district to develop recommendations for specific allowable innovations in curriculum, instruction, governance, parent or community involvement, school calendar, budgeting, or other areas for the district to pursue as part of its District of Innovation Plan, thus gaining more local control.
