Athletics Media Guidelines
DSISD reserves the right to reduce or deny media privileges for failure to comply with these guidelines.
General Guidelines
A Media/Field Pass (wristband or credential) must be worn and visible at all times. Media should not interact with players, coaches or other student participants while an event is in progress. All media is prohibited from standing/working in the player/coach’s box (25 yard line to 25 yard line). Media may not tag any student-athlete in any social media post without the student’s explicit consent. DSISD reserves the right to request proof of that permission.
Prohibited Content & Imagery
Media must agree to remove any photos/videos if requested by DSISD or that violate any of the following:
Threatens physical violence or is obscene, vulgar, or sexually explicit
Promotes illegal use of drugs, alcohol, or other controlled substances
Endorses actions endangering the health or safety of students or others
Identifies a specific person in a defamatory, abusive, or negative way, or violates a person’s privacy
Violates the law or encourages others to do so or advocates imminent lawlessness or disruptive action and is likely to incite or produce such action
Contains hate speech or similar language that offensively attacks any group, including racist, homophobic, sexist, obscene or sexually explicit remarks
Violates federal or state law or any Board policies regarding the protection of employee or student privacy or the confidentiality of employee or student records
Creates reasonable cause to believe that posting the information will cause material or substantial disruption or interference with school activities or the rights of others
Photography
A credentialed photographer may take any number of photos on-site at the competition venue, provided that they do not interfere with play or related activities. Photographers are strictly limited to photos of students, coaches and other individuals participating in the event. Close-up photos of DSISD students in the bleachers are not allowed due to the district’s “Do Not Distribute” policy.
Video
Videographers are prohibited from recording an event in its entirety and must limit any highlight or recap videos to three (3) minutes or less (not including interview time).
