Credit by Exam & Grade Placement

Credit by Exam, or Exam for Acceleration, moves students through an educational program at rates faster or younger than typical. It matches the curriculum level, complexity, and pace to the readiness and motivation of the student. All forms of acceleration require high academic ability. The student’s motivation, social-emotional maturity, interests, and other factors are considered when making decisions about acceleration. Whole-grade or single academic subject acceleration may benefit students whose level of achievement and ability significantly surpasses their same-age group peers or those who exhibit high ability but are not performing well in class.

The mission of Dripping Springs ISD is to partner with students, parents, and the community to provide a personalized and exceptional education for every student. Through whole-grade and single academic-subject acceleration, qualifying students may progress through the curriculum at a pace that meets their needs.
