Welcome to my page!
I will be teaching Health Science Theory(HST I) and HST II Practicum. I also have the privilege of being the HOSA advisor.
My background is in Respiratory Therapy. I attended Texas State University in San Marcos and earned a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care. I have worked for the Seton Family of Hospitals in the past including University Medical Center at Brackenridge and Seton Medical Center Hays. My experience includes adult and neonatal ICU, ER, general care units, mother-baby unit, and Labor & Delivery.
I have been in the most intimate of moments with patients and their families working as a Respiratory Therapist. I have witnessed a baby’s first breath and I have been the one to disconnect life support after the conclusion that successful resuscitation would be of no help, so there I have stood and witnessed patients’ last breath. All this to say that I have learned that life is so fragile yet resilient. It’s amazing! I have had the privilege to see patients at their worst, after a life threatening event, and then see their progress in healing as a result of the teamwork and special care by healthcare professionals like myself.
My reason for teaching comes from a deep awareness of a need in our country for well prepared and passionate healthcare professionals willing to improve patient care and safety. By teaching those that are interested in pursuing a healthcare profession, I can prepare them by teaching them medical skills, guiding them as we explore multiple healthcare professions, practicing to work as a team and learning what it means to be a professional.
I look forward to meeting all of my students and their families. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
