    Kristen Ray was announced as the new principal at Sycamore Springs Elementary in July of 2017. Ms. Ray, who brings five years of principal experience, has been employed since 2014 as a senior consultant for The Leader In Me, which is part of the Franklin Covey Education Division.

    Ms. Ray has 12 years of experience in educational administration, all in North East ISD (San Antonio). Most recently she was the principal at Stone Oak Elementary (2009-14) after serving as an assistant principal at three NEISD campuses, including Stone Oak. She also was summer school principal for one year at Serna Elementary. Ms. Ray began her career in education at Roosevelt ISD where she taught first grade in addition to serving as a Title 1 reading teacher.  From there she moved to North East ISD as a second-grade teacher, then continued there as a campus leader.

    “I am honored to serve as the new principal at Sycamore Springs Elementary,” said Ms. Ray.  “I look forward to partnering with the community, parents, and the amazing staff to create an empowering culture of learning for our students.”

    Ms. Ray earned her bachelor’s degree in human development from Texas Tech University and her master’s degree in educational administration from Wayland Baptist University.


    Tami Ballard has 20 years of experience in education, including 13 in Dripping Springs ISD. During her tenure at DSISD, she has held five different positions: elementary teacher, District Elementary Coordinator of Learning and Innovation, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Bilingual/ESL Coordinator and instructional facilitator at Dripping Springs Elementary.

    "I strive to create a positive and nurturing learning environment where both students and teachers are challenged to reach their maximum potential on a daily basis," said Ms. Ballard. "I am passionate about personalizing learning for all and preparing our students for the future."

    Ms. Ballard and her husband Howard have two daughters: Kelsi attends Trinity University in San Antonio and Kylie is a 2017 DSHS graduate who is a freshman at Samford Unviersity.


    Mandy Sargent brings 18 years in education to Sycamore Springs Elementary, six of which have been in Dripping Springs ISD as a campus administrator at Rooster Springs Elementary and Coordinator of Learning & Innovation. Previously, Mrs. Sargent worked as a teacher in Round Rock ISD, Instructional Coach in Hays CISD, and Instructional Specialist at the Region 13 Education Service Center.

    "My personal mission is to seek joy in each day, to give and accept grace, and to inspire others to seek joy for themselves," said Mrs. Sargent. "I am excited to be a part of a school that exudes such positive energy and is always striving to be MORE!"

    Mrs. Sargent is a proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and also earned her Masters in Educational Leadership from Texas State University. She and her husband have lived in the Dripping Springs area since 2005 and have two children in DSISD schools, Addison at Sycamore Springs Middle School and Aaron at Rooster Springs.
