Welcome to Walnut Springs Elementary! WSE currently serves more than 900 students in grades PK-5 and takes pride in our responsibility to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of each student in a safe learning environment. We understand that children vary widely in their developmental strengths and limitations, and this variation has powerful implications for educating our children. It is for this reason that we believe in the unique attributes of each child, and our obligation to recognize these qualities when structuring our learning environment and instructional delivery. At WSE, we believe in creating a positive climate where students, teachers, parents, and community members feel welcome and appreciated. As a team, we all play an important role in preparing our students to achieve their greatest potential. 

 

The current WSE campus on Tiger Lane was built in 2021. Originally constructed as an intermediate school in 1999, the first WSE campus on Sportsplex Drive was expanded and renamed Walnut Springs Elementary in 2006. The original campus now serves as the Center for Learning & Leadership (DSISD administration building).
