SEAMLESS SUMMER OPTION (SSO) FOR 2021-2022:
New guidance has been issued from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that allows schools that are on the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP) to offer meals to students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year. All DSISD Elementary schools operate under the NSLP/SBP and will utilize the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) to allow for this meal benefit. While no application or eligibilty determination is required for your Elementary student to receive free meals this school year, income eligibility requirements will likely resume in the 2022-2023 school year. As such, to establish initial eligibilty for free or reduced-price meals for the 2022-2023 school year, please complete an application for free or reduced-price meals this school year.
NORMAL SCHOOL YEAR PROCEDURES:
Families who wish to apply for free or reduced price meals need to complete a new Free and Reduced Price Meal Application every school year. The free/reduced price eligibility of our returning students is approved through the first 30 days of the new school year. After the first 30 days the student's previous eligibility will expire and a new application will need to be completed. The Free and Reduced Price Meal Application should be filled out accurately and honestly and returned to the student's school or to the Child Nutrition Office for processing. Applications will be processed within 10 school days.
