    12. This year's report card includes a citizenship grade guided by the DSISD Portrait of an Elementary Student. Much like our academic grades, a student's citizenship may flux and change throughout the year as we grow and learn not only in academics but also in citizenship and leadership. If you ever have questions about your student's report card, please reach out to your teacher. This is also a great discussion point for your October parent/teacher conferences!

    Sharpen the Saw Challenge:

    Our Cypress Tigers understand that all leaders must practice the habit of self-renewal. This habit is called Sharpen the Saw. We want to include our whole families in practicing this habit! Welcome to our Sharpen the Saw Challenge! Each month we will post a challenge for families to post pictures of themselves “sharpening the saw”. To sharpen the saw we must take care of our bodies, mind, heart, and soul! #CSESsharpens

    We are thrilled to wrap up week 2 and we are so proud of our Tigers as they have been working hard to learn how to be safe, respectful, and responsible!

    Part of implementing the Leader in Me process is teaching and reinforcing the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. In the month of September, we will learn all about Habit 1: Be Proactive.  Let’s find ways to take these timeless habits home. Here is a year at a glance by grade level with questions for each week for families to engage in conversation.

    THANK YOU FOR A FABULOUS FIRST WEEK! We appreciate your support and patience with the first week of traffic. 

    1. Beginning tomorrow, August 18, students arriving at 7:45 am are considered a late arrivals.  School begins promptly at 7:45.  Please help us create healthy habits.

    2. The Class Shirt Store is now open!  Order by 8/31 if you would like your child to have a class shirt.

    4. Friday, August 25 is our first Friday Assembly!  CSES leaders meet in the gym every Friday to celebrate our week.  Please be sure to have your students on time so they do not miss the fun!  Also, please wear Tiger spirit on Fridays to support Tiger Nation!

    5. If your student has bus service this year, please be sure you are registered in the Smart Tag Parent Portal. All details about your child’s service will be available there, including pick-up and drop-off locations and times. Because the information can change as last-minute enrollments occur, please check back on Monday, August 14 for the final details about your child’s bus service. As a reminder, we are implementing hub stops to reduce travel times for our buses, so it is important that our families understand their exact bus stop location since it may have changed since last year. Thank you for your continued support as we build healthy habits!

    9.  Please join us Friday, August 19th from 8 am-8:45 am as we celebrate our first week of learning!  This is hosted in our Cafeteria. This is an informal meet and greet!

    We loved seeing everyone this evening at our Meet the Teacher Night and Back to School Bash!  Thank you to our incredible staff for their hard work in preparing the classrooms and the building for the children.  Thank you to our PTA for planning and facilitating our fun-filled evening.  We are proud of our CSES community!

    1.  *Pre-K and Kindergarten Parents are welcome to walk their children to their classrooms during the first day of school. Parents will be given a Visitor’s Badge and will enter and exit through exterior door #3.  Beginning Wednesday, August 16th, all students are expected to walk to their classrooms from either the cafeteria or the gym with their teachers, or from the school's front entrance.  Multiple staff members will be present throughout the campus to support our learners as they make their way to their classrooms. 

    PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN: ON AUGUST 14TH FROM 12:00 PM- 2:00 PM, PARENTS MAY HAVE THEIR ID SCANNED AND GIVEN A BADGE TO EASE THE TRAFFIC IN THE FRONT OFFICE ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, AUGUST 15TH.

    *All 1st- 5th grade parents are welcome to escort their children to the front of the building, but then kiss and hug them so they are off to their classroom ready for learning.  This procedure encourages students’ self-esteem and independence by getting the school day started on their own. Teachers appreciate the uninterrupted instructional time by getting to work as soon as they enter the classroom as a whole group. Thank you for supporting the safety and security of our school community.

    1.  Cypress Springs practices Positive Behavior Interventions Support (PBIS).  Please click here for information in regards to our PBIS systems.  In addition, we are in our 3rd year of Leader in Me.  Each month we will learn and review one habit.  We will begin with Habit One: Be Proactive.

    Welcome to Cypress Springs Elementary!  We are thrilled to have entered the month of August!  We are beyond proud of our learning community and are excited to welcome our newest Tigers to CSES!

    3.  ATTENTION KINDERGARTEN FAMILIES:  Join us on August 6th from 4 pm-5 pm at the Cypress Springs Elementary gym for Popsicle in the Park (GYM)!  Come say hello to friends you know and meet some new ones!

Please join us for Meet the Teacher Night on August 10th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  This is a come-and-go evening and we will host a Back to School Bash from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  We cannot wait to connect with each of you!  We will host a Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten Parent Orientation on August 9th from 5:30 pm- 6:15 pm.  This information session is designed for parents and will occur prior to knowing your child’s teacher.
