LRFPC Recommendation
The committee has recommended that the district purchase land to support future growth. The district currently owns enough land for a second high school, two future middle schools, and two future elementary schools. 

General Land Size Requirements for School Construction 

• Stand-Alone Elementary School: approximately 20 acres
• Stand-Alone Middle School: approximately 40 acres
• Stand-Alone High School: 80-100 acres
• Elementary and Middle School on the same property (connected or separate buildings): 50-60 acres
• Elementary, Middle, and High School on the same property (connected or separate buildings): 130-150 acres

Current DSISD Land Portfolio

• 155 acres (130 remaining) at the intersection of Sawyer Ranch Road and Darden Hill Road (on the south side of Darden Hill Road next to Cypress Springs Elementary)
• 24 acres northwest of the intersection of Ranch Road 12 and East Mt. Gainor Road
• 64.5 acres on the west side of the Headwaters neighborhood
