    Thank you for the outpouring of love and support!  We cannot thank our CSES community enough! In February we will be learning and reviewing all about Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be understood.  Take some time to dig into this habit and how you can support it at home by reading this short article. Habit 5 is all about communication!

    1. Join us on February 8 at 8 am for our Coffee Talk.  We will be diving into chapters 3 and 4 of our book study The Whole-Brain Child.  It is not too late to join in!

    3. We are excited to celebrate the 100th Day of School on February 2nd!  You might spot Grandma Raymond onsite!

    4. Tuesday, February 1 is Lunar New Year and 2022 is the Year of the TIGER! Students are invited to wear their Tiger spirit wear on Tuesday to celebrate!

    • Order Yearbook TODAY - $25 Early Bird Pricing ends Monday!! CSES Yearbooks are on sale now until March 28! Early Bird pricing at $25 is available if you order by January 31. The price will increase to $30 on February 1. Personalization and 5th-grade ads are available for an additional cost. Questions can be directed to secretary@csepta.org.

    • PTA sponsors Grade Level/Department grants - at our last PTA general meeting in November, membership voted to put funds raised from Cypress Fun Fest towards $750 grants for CSE grade-level teams and departments. Teachers and staff can expect their requested supplies in the next few weeks. Thank you PTA members for supporting our school!

    • Fabulous Fridays - in February we will be helping show our teachers and staff some extra love on Fridays! Stay tuned for more info on how you can help.

    We appreciate the support from our CSES family this week!  Due to an increase in cases, we had many staff members step in to support student learning.  Thank you for understanding as we continue to navigate the pandemic.  If you are able, please send a note or email of encouragement to our precious teachers!  This team is top-notch and we are grateful for their dedication and commitment to excellence. 

    In addition to thanking our staff, we want to send appreciation to our PTA and Subs ‘R’ Us parents.  We are beyond grateful for your support and filling in anywhere it was needed this week. Thank you.  We couldn’t have done it without you!

    1. Please continue to monitor your student (s) for symptoms and keep them home if symptomatic.  In addition, please remind students to sneeze and cough into their elbows and the importance of healthy handwashing. THANK YOU!

    2. The Great Kindness Challenge is one week devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible on campus. Using the provided kindness checklist (PK-1st(2nd-5th), students accept the challenge and show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS! Here is a link to a parent letter sharing a little more information about this week!:) We would also love to promote kindness through dress-up days this week! Please view the flyer attached to check out how to promote kindness through dress-up!

    • Spelling Bee - We are so proud of all our participants from our first ever CSES PTA Scripps Spelling Bee! A big congratulations to our school champion, fourth-grader Ben Branyon, and runner-up Sienna Cole (5th grade)! Both will have the opportunity to take the Scripps online spelling test for a chance to advance to the Austin Regional. Also, outstanding job to our Spelling Bee class champions and runners up:

      • 1st grade - Everett Heck (champion), Evelyn Cervenka (runner up)

      • 2nd grade - Reid Butcher (champion), Jackson Cobb (runner up)

      • 3rd grade - Camryn Dement (champion), Jeriah Katumba (runner up)

    Thank you for a fantastic start to the 2022 year!  We have noticed children are arriving on time and ready for learning- thank you!

    1. Mark your calendars- January 17th is a Student and Staff Holiday.  Enjoy the three-day weekend!

    2. Please label your children’s jackets, lunch boxes, and water bottles so if they are lost, they can be found.

Attention 5th Graders!  The SSMS Elective Showcase is coming soon!  Click here for information.  Also, click here for information about Middle School Dance Team Tryouts.   SSMS BAND: Please sign up HERE to grab your child's personal appointment for band instrument fitting. Students will be able to explore all instruments to see which instrument fits them the best! Even if you're not sure if your child will enroll in band, they are welcome to come have this unique experience. NO prior knowledge is needed for beginning band! We teach them all they need to know.

    2. Art Appreciation is next week, January 18-21.We are doing a Salvador Dali-inspired watercolor project. Sign up here to volunteer with your student's class! If you have any questions, please reach out to enrichments@csepta.org.

    We had an amazing first week back from the holiday break.  Thank you for your support in getting the children to school on time.  We have been reviewing schoolwide expectations this week and the children have transitioned back nicely!

    1. Report Cards post in Family Access later this evening.  Please log in to view your child’s progress.

    2. Please continue to monitor your child for illness and keep them home if they are sick.  Thank you!  We want healthy Tigers!

    3. Please be sure to hang your car tag in the car for car rider dismissal and bus riders need their SmartTags each day.

    • CSE PTA Spelling Bee is January 13-14 (during school hours). Register Here by FRIDAY, January 7, if your child would like to compete in the First-Ever Cypress Springs Elementary Spelling Bee. Once registered, parents will be e-mailed their child's grade-level spelling words list, along with an activity guide and suggested books to improve context & comprehension of words. More details coming soon. Bees will be held in each studio space during school. Winners will receive prizes and also compete to be the CSE School Champion. Any questions can be directed to enrichments@csepta.org.
