Degrees and Certifications:
I am so excited to be teaching at Rooster Springs this year! I'm even more excited to be teaching 5th grade! I live in Belterra with my husband Jeff and two boys, Chase and Noah. They will be in 5th and 3rd grades this year (respectively) and have attended RSE since Kindergarten. I truly love this school and our community and feel so lucky to be spending my days with the children who live here.
I grew up in Laredo, Texas and attended the University of Texas (Hook 'Em!) here in Austin. I got a degree in Finance and started my career in the finance department at American Airlines. It was a great experience but I quickly realized my heart wasn't in it. I had always been curious about teaching and in 2007 decided to make the change. I got my alternative certificate and began teaching in East Austin. Aside from the years I had my boys, I have been teaching in some capacity ever since. I've taught pre-school, pre-K, second grade and middle school. I have to say that upper elementary students have my heart. It is such a fun time in their lives and an important one in their academic development.
We recently became the proud owners of a pop-up camper and have loved using it. We try to camp or spend time outdoors whenever we can (when its not too hot!). My favorite thing to do each summer is visit a mountain town somewhere in Colorado or New Mexico, but if we are in Austin, you'll find me at a local swimming hole. We have a dog and two cats who entertain us with their shenanigans during the evenings at home. We love to play games or watch movies as a family and probably go out to eat way too much.
I'm so excited to have each of your children in my classroom and look forward to an amazing year. I aim to learn as much as I can about each of my students to make sure they love coming here every day as much as I do.
