Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Natalie Mahany
I am very fortunate to have a job that is truly my passion! I love guiding children through their discoveries and learning experiences. This will be my 23rd year of teaching (22 years with DSISD). I believe in building strong relationships with my students based on mutual respect, trust, and compassion. Each of "my kids" has (and always will have) a place in my heart. I strive to balance fun with learning and to create a classroom of curiosity, innovation, and high expectations. We learn with a growth mindset. I want my students to be as excited about coming to school as I am!
I am a graduate of Texas A&M University. I have a teaching certificate in PreK-6th grade and am GT and ESL certified. I am a continuous learner and have attended numerous conferences, courses, and workshops, including The Texas Reading Academy, The Buck Institute on Project Based Learning, The Number Lab, The Leader in Me, and the International Society for Technology in Education conference. I have mentored our student garden club, a girls STEM Club, and I am a UIL Coordinator. I serve as the teacher liaison for our PTA and enjoy supporting service projects and efforts. I am very honored to have received the RSES, DSISD, and Region XIII Teacher-of-the-Year awards in 2013. I am also humbled to have been selected as the 2017 Texas PTA Teacher-of-the-Year.
I believe in a partnership between school and home in educating children. I have an open-door policy and welcome parent involvement. Please feel free to contact me with any thoughts, ideas, or concerns about how to best meet the needs of our kids. I truly appreciate the trust placed in me to guide and work with children.
