Ms. Jill Zipperer
I am originally from Houston, Texas. After graduating from Kingwood High School in 2013, I moved to San Marcos to attend Texas State University. I graduated summa cum laude this May with my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies.
I have spent the past two years working as a STEM Crew leader for Girlstart, an after-school non-profit focused on teaching girls about STEM careers. I also worked as an educational assistant and camp counselor for the Aquatic Science Adventure Camp at Texas State University. I am so grateful to be able to spend my summers SCUBA diving, river rafting, and teaching students about the environment! I love science, technology, engineering, and math!
When I am not teaching, I love to spend my free time outdoors. I love to kayak, snorkel, explore caves, run, and read! I am also an avid backpacker, and spent this past Spring Break backpacking through the Grand Canyon. I am currently planning a trip to Zion National Park next year!
My educational philosophy is one of engagement, inquiry, and discovery. Every child deserves the right to a student-centered education that pushes them to achieve their goals. I believe in movement-based, interactive lessons that engage every part of a child's brain. My goal is to make learning as fun as possible while encouraging student academic, mental, emotional, and physical growth.
