Route and Bus Stop Guidelines
1.  School bus transportation is provided as a privilege to students who live more than two miles from their school.  Transportation may be provided to students who live within two miles of their assigned school if the area has received a hazardous route designation.

2.  Bus routes are established to assist eligible students to attend schools using designated stops for the student's residence of record; they are not established for the purpose of delivering students to their individual residences or alternate locations.

3.  Students are required to use their assigned bus stops each morning and afternoon.  Students should be at the bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time.

4.  Parents are responsible for supervising their children while waiting at the bus stops and selecting their children's walking route to and from bus stops.

5.  Bus drivers cannot change bus routes or designated stops without authorization from the Transportation Department.

6.  Buses operate only on roads that are properly maintained and considered safe and appropriate for school bus travel.  There are roads in Hays County that school buses do not travel on, usually due to road surface, inadequate turnaround or roads that are too narrow.
