I am very happy to be teaching third grade at Rooster Springs Elementary School. I truly enjoy guiding children through their journey of learning and look forward to each day that allows me that opportunity. This is my eighteenth year of teaching. It is my seventeenth year with DSISD. Over 350 students have made a difference in my life, and each one has a very special place in my heart.
I am a graduate of Texas A&M University and am certified to teach Pre-K through 6th grade. I am trained in GT (Gifted and Talented) and certified in ESL(English as a Second Language). I speak fluent French and am conversational in Spanish. I have completed the Buck Institute's workshop on Project Based Learning. In 2012-2013 I was very fortunate to have been selected as the Elementary School Teacher-of-the-Year for RSES, DSISD, and Region XIII.
I strive to empower my students to reach their ultimate potential in a safe, creative, and caring environment where children can explore, discover, investigate, and learn. I believe in a growth mindset of trust and respect where we can learn from our mistakes as well as our successes. My hope is to instill a lifelong love of learning, a passion for reading, a gratitude attitude, and a strong desire to be caring and curious about the world in which we live.
I believe in a partnership between school and home in educating children. I welcome questions, comments, or concerns. I am very excited about our school year together!
